Pearce Honored with BEE Award
TUPELO, Miss.— Lauren Pearce, nursing assistant on 5 Central, recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s BEE (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) Award for April.
She received a certificate, a BEE Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a cake.
Pearce graduated from Mantachie High School and attended Itawamba Community College. She worked at a nursing home before joining the NMMC staff in November 2017.
Pearce was nominated for the award by a coworker for several acts of kindness. “We had a patient who had left his glasses on discharge to another facility. Lauren volunteered to deliver the glasses even though it was 30 minutes out of her way,” her nomination states. “We also had a patient on an altered diet who was refusing meals because of the alterations. With her own money, Lauren bought the patient food that was part of his altered diet. The patient and family were very grateful.” Pearce was also cited for volunteering to work additional hours when needed.
The BEE Award is given to a deserving caregiver each month at NMMC. Nomination forms are available throughout NMMC or at www.nmhs.net/bee-award. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email BEEAwards@nmhs.net.
