Quentin McMillian Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center has named Quentin McMillian, laboratory manager for the Pathology Department, as its latest Employee of the Month.
McMillian has been with NMMC since 2008. He has previously served as Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) for the evening shift, lead MLS in Microbiology and also as Laboratory Information Systems Coordinator.
He is a graduate of West Point High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Mississippi State University in Starkville. McMillian earned LEAN Healthcare Certification from Belmont University in Nashville.
McMillian said he enjoys the challenges that medical technology presents and helping others learn how to overcome those challenges.
“The best part of my job is teaching and problem solving,” McMillian said. “I enjoy helping people learn new things and seeing them develop not only professionally, but personally as well. I love that medical laboratory science is continuously changing. Each day presents new opportunities and challenges.”
McMillian was complimented by coworkers as a committed employee and someone who is skilled and accountable.
“Quentin is dedicated to his career and to NMMC,” a coworker wrote in his nomination. “He is one of the first ones here in the morning and one of the last to leave in the afternoon. He takes ownership of problems and works with all shifts and areas to ensure that patient care if top priority.”
“Even during stressful situations, Quentin conducts himself in the most dignified manner so problems can be resolved professionally,” another coworker wrote. “Quentin is an outstanding manager and is very dedicated to this organization. He puts his heart and soul into making sure our processes are top of the line so our patients get excellent, top of the line, quality service.”
