Barry Keel (left), administrator of NMMC-West Point, and Tracy Stebbins Arnett (right), director of wellness, recently presented the Employee of the Quarter award to Mary Ann Shows.
Shows is a longtime member of the hospital’s Auxiliary and currently serves as president. She joined the Wellness Center staff in April 2012. A graduate of West Point High School, she is certified as a personal trainer through the Athletics and Fitness Association of America.
Shows teaches the arthritis exercise class, spin, Pilates and a quarterly balance class that is open to the public. In her nomination, coworkers wrote that Shows is dedicated, efficient, and a great teacher and encourager. They commented that her students love her, she is highly motivated and always developing new ideas for the Wellness Center, and is always willing to fill in for others when needed.
“What I love most about my job is working with individuals who want to have a more active, healthy lifestyle,” she said. “One of the best parts is working with the arthritis exercise class. This inspiring group of men and women always keep me on my toes. I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to work with them and the amazing Wellness Center staff.”
She and her husband, Darrell Shows, have two children—Murray and Cody—and three grandchildren—Coleman, Jase and Mattox. She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church and is an active community volunteer.
