Sarah Cleveland Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—Sarah Cleveland, registered nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, is the latest Employee of the Month at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Cleveland has worked at NMMC since 2015. She is a graduate of Tupelo High School and earned an associate degree in nursing from Itawamba Community College in Fulton. She also obtained a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Mississippi State University in Starkville.
In her nomination, Cleveland was lauded by her coworkers as compassionate and respectful of patients and their families.
“Families can always feel the genuine interest, care and love that Sarah displays to her patients, and this care is given to the families as well,” one coworker wrote in her nomination. “They trust, respect and love her as their nurse.”
“Sarah is very careful to offer dignity and respect to all patients and families in the Intensive Care Unit,” another coworker wrote. “She understands how these situations can strip a person and a family of so much. She is both very careful to offer respectful support, and she is very protective of their privacy and autonomy as well as dignity and respect.”
Cleveland said she loves providing care and support to patients and their families.
“What I love most about my job is caring for others,” Cleveland said. “I try to provide excellent care not only to my patients but to their families as well. Sometimes the family requires almost as much care as the patient, and I try my best to provide that for them when I can. Seeing patients improve is so rewarding, and celebrating those little moments with their families is amazing. On the other side of that is being there for the family when a patient is not doing well. That can be really hard, but I try to answer their questions, provide support and be a comforting presence for them.”
She is married to Dustin Cleveland. The couple live in Guntown and attend St. Luke Methodist Church.
