Swings for Scholarships Golf Scramble to Benefit Jim Spruiell Memorial Scholarship
COLUMBUS, Miss.— Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi is sponsoring Swings for Scholarships, a golf scramble June 1 at Elm Lake Golf Course to benefit the Jim Spruiell Memorial Scholarship for individuals who are pursuing a career in emergency health care.
Tee-off is at 1:30 p.m., and registration begins at noon. The $300 entry fee includes a four-man team, green fees, carts and snacks.
A crawfish boil with live music will immediately follow the tournament; team winners and raffle prizes will be announced there. Tickets for the evening event are $20 per person; golf team registration does not include evening tickets. Tournament participation is not required for the evening event.
Friends and colleagues of James L. “Jim” Spruiell, North Mississippi Medical Center chief flight nurse, established a scholarship in his memory shortly after his untimely death. Spruiell, 61, of Sulligent, Ala., was one of three people who died Nov. 19, 2017, in a medical helicopter crash in rural Arkansas. The helicopter, which was operated by Pafford EMS and Air Methods, was en route from Pine Bluff, Ark., to DeWitt, Ark., when the crashed occurred.
