WEST POINT, Miss.—The Women’s Group and North Mississippi Medical Center- West Point announce the addition of obstetrician-gynecologists Pranjal Desai, M.D., and Sneha Desai, M.D., to the medical staff.

The couple is relocating to West Point from Ardmore, Oklahoma, where they have practiced with Mercy Clinic since 2017.

He completed residency training in general surgery there in 2004. In 2015, he completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey, an affiliate of the Atlantic Health System. He also holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

His desire to practice medicine stemmed from a volunteer opportunity in India when he was 15. “I was inspired by the concept of helping others through medicine,” he said. “Observing physicians closely treating patients and relieving their suffering was very fascinating and satisfying.”

After completing medical school and residency, he became an attending surgeon and the administrator of a 60-bed rural hospital in India. In that role, he discovered his passion for rural health. “Working in a rural community gave me unique exposure into public health issues impacting the lives of people living in small communities,” he said. “West Point is a perfect place for us to serve.”

“I enjoy caring for women in all stages of life and providing excellent care. As a woman, I understand the importance of taking care of each other, from annual exams, pre- and post-pregnancy care and post-menopausal care too,” she said. “My goal is to make sure every one of my patients knows while they are in my care, they are of utmost importance.”

Both physicians have a special interest in robotic surgery, which will become available at NMMC-West Point in January. Her hobbies include cooking, traveling and photography. His hobbies include painting, traveling and music. The couple has one daughter, Anaya.
