Valarie Conway Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—Valarie Conway, certified licensed practical nurse on 1 West, was recently named North Mississippi Medical Center’s Employee of the Month for December.
Conway joined NMMC in 1998. She previously worked on 6 South and Inpatient Hospice before joining 1 West.
An Okolona High School graduate, Conway completed her LPN training at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville. She also earned her IV therapy certification.
“The best part of my job is the love that I have for helping others,” Conway said. “I have this job because it helps make other people’s life a little easier. To give our patients and family members hope. To encourage them that no matter how hard it may seem, there is always hope. Somewhere down the line we will always need a friendly face or a helping hand. That’s what I want to be to my patients and everyone. I also love my job because everyone I work with is a team member and I appreciate them very much.”
Coworkers commend Conway for the care she shows patients and her excellent teamwork skills.
“Valarie comes to work every day with a smile on her face,” one coworker wrote in her nomination. “She always has a positive attitude. She provides excellent care to the patients.”
“Valarie demonstrates excellent communication skills with patients, families and staff to ensure that patients are provided with the best care possible,” another coworker said.
She and her husband Donald live in Shannon and are the parents of three children, Beverly, Rodriquez (Tiffany) and Erica. They attend church at Poplar Springs CME Church in Shannon.
