Wellness Center to Celebrate 25th Anniversary in February
WEST POINT, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point’s Wellness Center is celebrating its silver anniversary in February with several events and specials to thank the community for its support.
Activities, which are all free to the public, kick off Monday, Feb. 3, with free blood pressure screening and health information. Body mass index (BMI) and bone density screening will be offered on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, Mary Walker, director of Food and Nutrition Services, will present a cooking demonstration of overnight oats.
An open house is scheduled from 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, featuring games and refreshments. On Friday, charter members will gather for a photo at 10:30 a.m.
Throughout February, the Wellness Center will offer the opportunity to join with no registration fee and 15% off the first year’s membership. Discounts are also offered all month on Pilates classes, manicures, pedicure and massages.
The NMMC-West Point Wellness Center opened on Feb. 6, 1995. More than 450 members had joined the facility within the first three months, helping the facility easily surpass its goal of 500 members for the first year. Thanks to community support, membership has remained strong through the years.
Located near the hospital’s Lone Oak Drive entrance, the 14,000-square-foot Wellness Center is open to members 13 years or older. Hours are 5:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 5:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
