NMMC Physical Therapist Surprises Chaney

Chaney receives leg brace updateChaney receives big surprise for her dollChaney McCullough, 3, of Tupelo recently got fitted for a new leg brace at North Mississippi Medical Center’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Center. Chaney suffered a brain hemorrhage when she was born prematurely, causing her to have difficulty performing motor skills with her right extremities. She started therapy at NMMC when she was only 6 months old and began wearing a brace on her right leg at around 1 year of age. As she grows, Chaney requires a new brace—but this time along with her new brace, she got a big surprise.

NMMC physical therapist assistant Connie Credille and Regina Grimes, a physical therapist with Southern Mobility Specialists, also had leg braces for Chaney’s American Girl doll, Holly. “It was the sweetest thing,” says Chaney’s mother, Betsy. “We love our Longtown crew.”

NMMC’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Center offers physical, occupational and speech therapy for children and adults. For more information about NMMC’s rehabilitation services, visit www.nmhs.net/rehabilitation.
