Allowance and Reimbursement
NMMC offers a $2,000 relocation allowance. The resident also receives $1,500 annually for educational use. NMMC reimburses mileage for required out-of-town rotations. Residents are eligible for the hospital retirement plan after their first year.
NMMC provides a comprehensive insurance package for all residents. This package includes health, dental, life, disability, vision, pharmacy and liability insurance for the resident. The resident also has the opportunity to purchase additional insurance for spouse and family at a reduced rate.
Each resident is entitled to schedule 15 days of paid vacation a year and eight personal days off. All days are to be scheduled and approved in advance by the director of the Residency Program. Three days for conference/educational meetings are allowed annually.
White lab coats are provided by the department and laundered at no charge to resident. This includes two in your first year and one per year thereafter.
Membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Medical Association (AMA), American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and Southern Medical Association (SMA) is provided for residents.
