Critical Care Transport
North Mississippi Medical Center's Critical Care Transport serves as an extension of the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit.
This unit does not respond to scenes. Along with CareFlight medical helicopter, this unit transports critical patients from area hospitals to NMMC in Tupelo, the only Level II Trauma Center in the north half of Mississippi.
When bad weather prevents CareFlight from responding, or if CareFlight is already responding to another call, the Critical Care Transport unit is dispatched.
Critical Care Transport Team
Emergency Department registered nurses, paramedics and EMTs staff the Critical Care Transport unit 24 hours daily. Crew members have received advanced training to care for critically ill patients.
