Cost of Surgery

Bariatric SurgeonsWe are often asked, "How much does weight loss surgery cost at North Mississippi Medical Center?"

Insurance Benefits

Insurance will pay on bariatric surgery, as long as it is a covered benefit on the policy.

The NMMC Bariatric Center is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program as a Comprehensive Center. The Bariatric Center is designated as a Cigna Center of Excellence and is recognized in the Optum Bariatric Centers of Excellence Network. Because of this, weight loss surgery at NMMC is covered by more health plans, including those for teachers, state employees and many offered by employers. So, check your health plan benefits, talk to your doctor and weigh your options.

NMMC has partnered with MyCare Finance to help patients pre-pay for weight loss surgery as well as related cosmetic surgery.

Self-Pay Patients

For individuals who do not have insurance or whose insurance does not cover weight loss surgery, we offer special pricing. Self-pay patients who qualify for vertical sleeve gastrectomy can take advantage of a special cash price of $12,500.

This special price includes:

  • Operating room fee
  • Surgeon’s fee
  • Anesthesia fee
  • Hospital stay of up to two nights (includes nursing care, lab work, X-rays, medications, in-hospital dietary consult)
  • Follow-up exams at two weeks, six weeks and three months (or more if needed within first 90 days)
  • Follow-up visits with the dietitian at two weeks and six weeks post-op

Our dedicated team works with you before, during and after surgery to help you achieve the full benefits of reaching an ideal weight.
