Tricia Murphy Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—Tricia Murphy, departmental secretary for the Pathology Department, was selected as Employee of the Month at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Murphy previously worked as ward secretary at NMMC from 1991 to 1992 and for the City of Tupelo in the Public Works Department from 1992 to 1994 before returning to NMMC.
She is a graduate of Tupelo High School and earned an associate’s degree in business technology in 1993 from Itawamba Community College.
“What I love about my job is the opportunity to assist other employees in Pathology,” Murphy said. “Also, I want to make Pathology a great lab. This is an accomplishment that I work toward every day. I do this because I love the lab.”
Murphy is described by coworkers in her nomination as a hard worker and a diligent employee.
“Tricia is one of the most dedicated and hard-working individuals in Pathology,” a coworker wrote in her nomination. “She never fails to pitch in and help out, even if she is not asked. Tricia never says, ‘That’s not my job.’ She is extremely competent and always willing to learn new things.”
“Tricia’s greatest asset is her diligence,” wrote one coworker. “She is always working. When she completes her work, she reaches out to others to assist any way she can. She never shirks away from any task.”
“Tricia possesses the best combination of brains, resourcefulness, dedication and generosity of any employee in the NMMC Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories,” a pathologist wrote. “Like many other health care workers in this age of increasing demands and decreasing resources, Tricia is asked to perform a wide and constantly changing variety of duties. She performs each duty with remarkable skill and good spirits.”
Her family includes husband Brad, son Ryan, 21, and daughter-in-law McKinsi, and son Luke, 18, and a grandchild on the way. She lives in Brewer and attends Brewer Baptist Church.
