Dr. Mark Wilson Joins West Point Children’s Clinic

WEST POINT, Miss.—West Point Children’s Clinic announces the association of board-certified pediatrician Mark Joseph Wilson, M.D.

Dr. Wilson joins Keith Watson, M.D., and nurse practitioners Whitt Foster and Jennifer Rigdon at the clinic. West Point Children’s Clinic is open from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 63 Medical Center Drive. For an appointment, call (662) 494-1620 or 1-800-THE DESK (1-800-843-3375).

Dr. Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University of Pittsburgh, Penn., in 1992 and his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1997. He completed his residency training at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C., in 2000. He is certified in Neonatal Advanced Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Wilson served as chairman of Pediatrics at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio, and Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va., and as vice chairman for the Ohio Valley Medical Center Women and Children’s Department. He also served as medical director for the Robert C. Byrd Center for Adolescent Psychiatric Medicine.

He is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics with the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and a clinical professor with the West Liberty University Physician Assistant Studies Program.

Joining him in West Point are his wife Michelle, and four children—Abby, 16; Sarah, 12; Mia, 5; and Noah, 2. He enjoys traveling, coaching soccer and wine tasting.

“When I was looking for a good opportunity, I searched for a few particular things,” Dr. Wilson said. “The most important parts to me were seeing physicians in real positions of leadership as well as a level of trust between the physicians and hospital administrators. What I found here was that and much more. The people of West Point seem invested in the hospital, and the hospital seems to be invested in the people of West Point. That’s where great medicine begins.”

Dr. Wilson said the community seems very warm and welcoming. “We are very much looking forward to our move,” he said.
