TUPELO, Miss.—Join North Mississippi Medical Center for “The Magic of Downsizing,” featuring Peter Walsh, bestselling author and host of Oprah Winfrey’s “Extreme Clutter,” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the BancorpSouth Conference Center.

Walsh will also sell and autograph copies of his new book, “Let it Go: Downsizing Your Way to a Richer, Happier Life,” which focuses on letting go of a lifetime’s worth of accumulated possessions. For ticket information, call 1-800-THE DESK (1-800-843-3375) or visit by Feb. 20.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for visiting exhibits and shopping vendors. Door prizes will be awarded. Bentley Burns will present a magic show as part of the evening’s entertainment.

Walsh wrote “Let it Go” after going through, along with six of his siblings, the process of downsizing his childhood home and dividing his late parents’ possessions. He reframes downsizing from an overwhelming chore to a rejuvenating life change. He offers practical tips such as how to agree on strategies for dividing heirlooms between siblings without drama, establish a hierarchy of mementos and collectibles, calculate the amount of stuff you can bring into your new life and understand the emotional challenges that accompany downsizing.

Walsh was a regular guest for five seasons on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where he was dubbed the “Get Your Life Organized Guy,” which led to his own series, Extreme Clutter (formerly Enough Already!) on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). He is a regular monthly contributor and occasional cohost on The Rachael Ray Show, and is a regular contributing editor to O: The Oprah Magazine.

Previously, Walsh was the star of the popular organization and design series Clean Sweep on Discovery’s TLC Network. He has authored six best-selling books on the subject of organizing: “Lose The Clutter, Lose The Weight,” “How to Organize (Just About) Everything;” “It’s All Too Much: An Easy Plan for Living a Richer Life with Less Stuff,” “Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?,” “Enough Already! Clearing Mental Clutter to Become the Best You,” and “Lighten Up!: Love What You Have, Have What You Need, Be Happier with Less.”
