Deborah Smith Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month
TUPELO, Miss.—North Mississippi Medical Center has named Deborah Gurley Smith, phlebotomist with the Pathology Department, as its latest Employee of the Month.
Smith joined NMMC in 2010. She previously worked at a unit coordinator on 3 South. She is a graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School and attended Itawamba Community College in Fulton. She is described by coworkers as hard working and compassionate.
“Deborah is extremely conscientious in everything,” one coworker wrote in her nomination. “She takes personal responsibility for whatever she does and holds herself accountable for the quality of her work. She is an excellent representative for our department and the entire hospital.”
“Deborah is dependable, hard-working and kind to her patients,” another coworker wrote. “I have observed her taking the extra time to help a patient in need.”
Smith said what she loves most about her job is “doing something different every day.”
She resides in Fulton and has two grown children, son Curt and daughter Brooke Reeves. Smith attends Bethel Baptist Church.
