NMMC-Iuka Ultrasound Announcement
North Mississippi Medical Center-Iuka recently acquired a new ultrasound machine with cutting-edge technology.
“This unit will enhance our technologists’ ability to define abnormalities within the body,” said Karen Barnes, director of radiology at NMMC-Iuka. “This unit, in addition to our other imaging capabilities, will help radiologists in diagnosing disease. We are excited to bring this quality upgrade to our community and patients.”
Ultrasound imaging (also known as ultrasound scanning or sonography) is a non-invasive method of seeing inside the body using high-frequency sound waves. The sound waves are recorded and displayed as real-time visual images. No radiation is used in ultrasound imaging.
