Tupelo, Miss.—Stephanie Gillespie, nursing assistant on 3 West, recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s BEE (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) Award for January.

“Stephanie has been outstanding, respectful, polite and exceeded expectations time and time again every single night we have had her,” wrote a patient’s son in her nomination. “Not only has she provided outstanding care to my father (the patient), but also extended her personal care to me and made sure I was as comfortable as possible during my stay with my Dad… Every time she came to check on my Dad or bring him something, she also asked if I needed anything and took amazing care of me and him both during a very difficult time in our lives.”

Gillespie, who resides in Pontotoc, graduated from South Pontotoc High School in 2010. She stayed home caring for her children and worked briefly for a florist before joining the NMMC staff in June 2018. She recently enrolled in coursework at Itawamba Community College in Tupelo to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.

She received a certificate, a BEE Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a cake. The BEE Award is given to a deserving caregiver each month at NMMC. Nomination forms are available throughout NMMC or at For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email
