TUPELO, Miss.—Jennifer Ray of 3 Central recently received North Mississippi Medical Center’s BEE (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) Award for December.

Ray was nominated by a coworker for helping a visitor who was having a difficult time. When the visitor stopped by the nurses’ desk, Ray noticed she was short of breath. The visitor could not make it to the lobby, so Ray took her in a wheelchair. On the way there, the visitor told Ray that she had suffered a stroke and thanked her for the act of kindness. “Jennifer always goes above and beyond for everyone,” the nomination states. “She’s outstanding!”

Ray, who lives in the Palmetto community of Pontotoc County, graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1985. After working as a private sitter for many years, she trained to become a certified nursing assistant at Itawamba Community College. She joined North Mississippi Medical Center in 2002 as certified nursing assistant, unit coordinator and monitor technician on the Pulmonary Stepdown Unit, which is now located on 3 Central.

She received a certificate, a BEE Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a cake. The BEE Award is given to a deserving caregiver each month at NMMC. Nomination forms are available throughout NMMC or at For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email
