NMMC-West Point Awards McBrayer, Reed Scholarships

Laura McBrayerNorth Mississippi Medical Center-West Point has awarded $1,000 college scholarships to recent graduates Laura McBrayer and Anna Grace Reed.

McBrayer plans to study nursing at Mississippi University for Women. At Oak Hill Academy, she was a member of the Anchor Club, National Honor Society and Student Government Association. She was on her school’s softball, basketball and track teams; is active in the Calvary Baptist Church youth group and served as a Student Leader Apprentice. The daughter of Keith and Nicole McBrayer, she works at Rose Drug Company.

Anna Grace ReedReed plans to study biological sciences at Mississippi State University. At Oak Hill Academy, she was on the softball, basketball and track teams, as well as the cheer squad. She was a member of the school’s Anchor Club, National Honor Society and annual staff. She attends First Baptist Church, where she is active with the youth group and youth praise team. The daughter of Jason and Alison Reed, she is serving as West Point’s Miss Hospitality 2020. 

The scholarships are awarded through the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi to graduating high school seniors pursuing a health care career. Applicants are judged on ACT score, high school transcript, curriculum taken as it pertains to the chosen field, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation and their personal statements.
