NMMC-West Point Honors Thomas as Outstanding Employee

WEST POINT, Miss.—Raven Thomas, a licensed practical nurse, has been selected by her peers as North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point’s most recent Employee of the Quarter.
A graduate of New Hope High School, Thomas completed her LPN training at East Mississippi Community College in Mayhew in 2013. She joined NMMC-West Point on the medical-surgical unit in 2017. She is certified in Basic Life Support.
“What I absolutely love most about my job is the people. I really believe that I am the patient experience and use every opportunity to put a smile on everyone’s face,” Thomas said. “I smile all the time and so should my patients. I love being a nurse!”
Thomas was cited by her coworkers for always being helpful and greeting everyone she meets with a smile. “Her positivity makes everyone’s day or night. Recently, we had a need on night shift and she eagerly volunteered to help out in any way,” her nomination states. “She easily transitioned to night shift and now the night shift doesn’t want to give her up, nor does any shift.”
Another wrote, “Raven approaches her patients and team members with kindness and compassion that is unmatched by most. Her positivity is one of her many strengths making her an asset to any team.”
Coworkers wrote that Thomas strives for excellence and embraces learning how to provide the best and safest care for her patients. “She is actively pursuing higher education while working and raising a family,” states her nomination,
Thomas has two children—Michael, 17, and Bryant, 16. She attends Greater Bethlehem Temple in Aberdeen. She enjoys being active in the community, her church and her children’s school activities.
