NMMC Gilmore-Amory Presents DAISY Award to Duncan Sumrall

Amanda DuncanAMORY, Mississippi—North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory has recently presented a DAISY Award to registered nurse Amanda Duncan Sumrall of the Emergency Department.

Duncan Sumrall was nominated by a patients’ family member. In the nomination letter, the family member wrote, “I was so happy to have a nurse like Amanda on duty for the peace of mind she gave us that my daughter would not leave the hospital until she was checked out fully. She kept us updated and at ease, informing us on results constantly. She was great!”

Duncan Sumrall is a graduate of Heritage Academy in Columbus. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville. She joined the NMMC staff in 2019. She and her husband Chris attend Amory First Assembly of God. Together, they have two daughters and are expecting a baby boy.

“What I love most about my job is being able to make a difference in patient’s lives,” Duncan Sumrall wrote. “I love being able to bring peace and understanding during a confusing or challenging time.”

Duncan Sumrall received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a bouquet of flowers from coworkers.

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day.
