North Mississippi Medical Center offers a free smoking cessation class for individuals who are trying to stop smoking or using other tobacco products.
Session 1 will meet virtually at 5 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 17-Feb. 21.
Session 2 will meet virtually at 5 p.m. Mondays, July 11-Aug. 15.
Angel Justice, MSN, FNP-BC, director of NMMC’s Advanced Practice Clinician Fellowship, leads the program.
The first class of each session involves a discussion of health history, habits, and smoking patterns.
- FDA-approved medications and potential side effects
- Nicotine withdrawal symptoms
- Strategies to help reduce and quit tobacco altogether
Medications will not be prescribed for smoking cessation. Participants need to follow up with their provider for prescription medications if desired.
