The Front Desk
Member Service Representatives at the Front Desk are happy to assist you with racquetball reservations, Child Care reservations and Pro Shop items, as well as questions concerning your membership. Current schedules for aerobic classes and health promotion programs are also available at the Front Desk.
The Kid’s Lounge, which is located to the left of the Front Desk as you enter the Wellness Center, is provided for children 7 years and older. Any child under age 7 left in the Kid’s Lounge must be supervised. The Kid’s Lounge is equipped with computer games and a television. The parent will be called if the child(ren) becomes disruptive.
The Wellness Center offers limited items for purchase such as racquetballs, socks, goggles and batteries. Members should ask for assistance with these items at the Front Desk. Items must be paid for before leaving the Wellness Center (no IOUs).
Cool down after your workout with a cool drink or snack, available in the member lounge, which is located by the racquetball tournament court. Food and beverages are restricted to the Member Lounge and Kid’s Lounge. A microwave is available for your convenience. We appreciate your consideration in keeping this area clean after use. A computer workstation with Internet access and e-mail is also available in the lounge.
Complimentary towel service is available to all members. Members are requested to limit towel use to two towels per visit, and to use the towel drops in the Locker Rooms. Towels should not be removed from the Wellness Center.
Lockers are available inside the Locker Rooms for use by members on a per visit basis. Any locks remaining overnight on the Locker Room lockers will be removed and items placed in Lost and Found.
Permanent lockers are available on an annual fee basis. These lockers are located in the corridor outside the Men’s Locker Room and inside Men’s and Women’s locker rooms.
Showers are located in each Locker Room for members’ use. Private dressing booths are available in the Women’s Locker Room. Members are required to wear "shower shoes" while in the shower area as a safety precaution.
Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms are equipped with hair dryers, lotion, hair and body shampoo, and a swimsuit dryer. The swimsuit dryers are designed only to remove excess water from swimsuits; please limit each use to 15 seconds.
A steam room, sauna and whirlpool are also available for members. Cancer Wellness Program
Individuals diagnosed with all types and stages of cancer may enroll in the Cancer Wellness Program at NMMC Wellness Center in Tupelo. Anyone who is recently diagnosed with cancer and receiving treatment is eligible to attend with a physician’s referral.
The Cancer Wellness Program combines specifically prescribed exercise with education and support to guide a person through recovery.
Research indicates that patients who are in good physical condition may tolerate treatment better than those who are not. A regular exercise program may reduce fatigue, as well as nausea, an occasional side effect of cancer treatment. Exercise can also bolster the immune system, an important part of fighting cancer.
Along with other education, a registered dietitian teaches participants how to eat more nutritionally. To register or for more information, call 377-4147.
Weight Watchers is available at the Wellness Centers in Tupelo, Pontotoc and Baldwyn. For more information, call 377-4146.
Educational classes and programs, including many that are open to both members and non-members, are offered at the Wellness Center. In addition, several support groups meet at the Wellness Center:
- Weight Loss Support Group
- Diabetes Support Group
- Multiple Sclerosis Support Group
- Parkinson's Disease Support Group
- Stroke Survivors Support Group
