TUPELO, Mississippi—Physician assistant Breland Starr, PA-C, has joined the team at North Mississippi Medical Center Orthopaedic Trauma Clinic.

NMMC’s Orthopaedic Trauma team treats traumatic orthopedic injuries, including fractures, dislocations and associated soft tissue injuries. They also accept patients by referral from emergency rooms, hospitals and providers.

Starr completed her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Mississippi State University in 2026. She also holds a master’s degree in biomedical science from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mississippi State University. She is a 2015 graduate of Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science.

“I genuinely enjoy connecting with people and making a real difference in their lives,” Starr says. “Being able to comfort, support and directly impact a patient’s day is what matters most to me. I’m eager to keep learning, work with a great team and provide hands-on care that truly helps patients feel seen and cared for.”

She is engaged to marry Dan Finanin in January 2027. In her spare time, she enjoys Pilates, traveling, cooking and reading. Starr is an avid MSU fan and rarely misses a football or baseball game. “I love my dog, Cornelia, and cherish time with my fiancé,” she adds. “I enjoy exploring new places and cuisines, trying out recipes at home, spending weekends with friends, going on outdoor adventures and watching any sports game I can.”
