TUPELO, Miss. — Dr. Nuray Metin, has joined North Mississippi Health Services’ Urgent Care Kids as a pediatrician.

Dr. Metin graduated from Erzincan High School and earned her medical degree from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in Turkey. She completed her pediatric residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Metin initially entered medical training with plans to become a psychiatrist, but her career path changed when she discovered a calling to care for children.

“I realized during medical school that caring for children was where I was meant to be,” Dr. Metin said. “Pediatrics gave me the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and their families.”

At Urgent Care Kids, a new pediatric urgent care clinic in Tupelo, Dr. Metin will provide care for infants, children and adolescents with illnesses and injuries that need prompt attention but do not require emergency care. Urgent Care Kids is open seven days a week with no appointment needed, giving families another option for care when their child’s pediatrician is unavailable.

“I am excited to be part of a pediatric-focused urgent care clinic and help build a program that provides excellent acute care for children,” Dr. Metin said. “Our goal is to be there for families when their pediatrician is not available while also supporting local pediatricians in the continued care of their patients.”

David Barber, president of North Mississippi Medical Clinics, said Dr. Metin’s pediatric experience will help Urgent Care Kids expand access to specialized care for children and families.

“Dr. Metin brings a strong commitment to children and families that makes her an excellent addition to Urgent Care Kids,” Barber said. “Having pediatric expertise available seven days a week gives parents another trusted option when their child needs care, while complementing the important care provided by pediatricians throughout our region.”

Outside of work, Dr. Metin enjoys traveling, going to the movies and visiting family. She has one daughter.

Urgent Care Kids is located at Crossover Medical Plaza, 718 Crossover Road in Tupelo. No appointment is needed.
