Expanding Care Closer to Home

New Physicans

These physicians joined the team in 2026 and practice in Tupelo unless otherwise noted.

Bringing More Care Within Reach

Our commitment to improving access guides how and where we grow. By expanding services, opening clinics in new communities and strengthening existing locations, we’re making it easier for people across our region to connect with high-quality care.

Cancer Care

  • The Lung Nodule Program brings together Pulmonary Consultants and Cancer Care to identify and monitor lung nodules, which can be an early sign of lung cancer. A nurse navigator coordinates imaging reviews, follow-up care and lung cancer screening. The program also uses artificial intelligence to help identify incidental findings in radiology reports. Since the technology was introduced, follow-up care has more than doubled, helping doctors diagnose more lung cancers at earlier stages, when treatment is most effective.
  • Cancer Care services expanded in Corinth and Oxford with the opening of Breast and General Surgery Clinics in both communities.

Clinics

Heart & Vascular

  • Heart screenings — which include CT calcium score, EKG and lipid profile to help identify risk for heart disease — expanded to six locations: Amory, Iuka, Pontotoc, Tupelo and West Point, Mississippi, and Hamilton, Alabama.
  • Cardiology Associates of North Mississippi opened a new clinic in Winfield, Alabama, to serve people with heart disease.

Neuroscience

  • Neuroscience Institute Walk-in Clinics help area residents find relief from pain caused by various underlying conditions. We now offer locations in Tupelo, Starkville and Corinth, Mississippi, and Hamilton, Alabama.
  • The Neuroscience Institute established a Stroke Follow-up Clinic to connect patients with needed care, resources and support after they leave the hospital.
  • The Neuromuscular Specialty Clinic connects patients with certain neuromuscular conditions to specialized care from a physician who is board-certified in both neurology and neuromuscular medicine.
  • The Rapid Access Addiction Care Clinic helps people with substance abuse issues get help quickly.

Other Services

  • The Foot Specialty Clinic opened in NMMC’s East Tower and offers nail and callus care, specialized diabetic foot care, as well as podiatry services.
  • Urgent Care Kids is the region’s first pediatric urgent care to be open seven days a week. Urgent Care Kids is located in the new Crossover Medical Plaza in Tupelo.
  • Ophthalmology services were significantly enhanced with the opening of North Mississippi Eye Care and the expansion of North Mississippi Retina Center, both located in Crossover Medical Plaza in Tupelo.
Rural Health Transformation Grants
  • NMMC-Tupelo received a $2.5 million grant to purchase an additional advanced robotic surgery system. The technology will expand access to minimally invasive procedures, allowing more patients to receive specialized care closer to home.

  • NMMC-Eupora received a $500,000 grant to create a four-bed Emergency Department Observation Unit. The unit will include cardiac monitoring capabilities and a specially designed room to provide a safer environment for behavioral health patients.
