Our People

Our people are at the heart of who we are, bringing their talents, experiences and commitment to our organization and the communities we serve.

The Hooper Family: A Legacy of Care

the Hooper family

At NMHS, care is personal. Many teammates serve the communities that raised them, caring for patients who are also neighbors, friends and familiar faces from church, school or the grocery store.

The Hooper family reflects that commitment. Cherronda “Marie” Hooper began her health care career in 1991 at Baldwyn Nursing Facility before becoming a registered respiratory therapist. Her daughters, Ashley and Amber, saw the difference a compassionate caregiver could make and eventually followed in her footsteps.

Connected by Purpose

At NMHS, employee engagement is essential to sustaining high-quality care and building a strong culture for the future. It shows up in teammates who take ownership of their work, share ideas, look for ways to improve and stay connected to the purpose behind each patient interaction.

NMHS supports engagement by listening to employees and using their feedback to improve the workplace experience. Employee surveys, open forums and leader communication help identify what teammates need to feel prepared and connected to our mission. These conversations help leaders better understand barriers, recognize what is working well and take meaningful action.

Throughout the year, engagement survey feedback helped guide initiatives focused on communication, well-being, growth, leadership development and connection to purpose. These efforts support frontline teammates, strengthen teams and help employees do their best work. By investing in employee engagement, NMHS also strengthens the experience of the patients and families we are privileged to serve.

Engagement is also key to retention. When employees understand how their work contributes to the NMHS mission and the health of our communities, they are more likely to build their careers here. Listening to the people closest to the work helps us improve how the work gets done and, ultimately, how patients and families experience our care.
