A Family Built on Hope & Health

Summary

After years of struggling with her health and infertility, losing significant weight helped Lynne Blaylock build the family she always dreamed of.

Lynne Blaylock of Dennis struggled with weight issues for most of her life.

The excess weight led to several health challenges: polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), sleep apnea, body aches and pre-diabetes. But the most heartbreaking of all was infertility.

After marrying Shane in 2011, the couple struggled to start a family. “We tried for years to have children,” Lynne shares. “I had tried everything to lose weight.”

In 2022 she saw a fertility specialist, who recommended Lynne consider weight loss surgery

A Life-Changing Decision

She scheduled an appointment with Dr. Terry Pinson and the North Mississippi Health Services weight loss team, and in October of that year, had surgery.

But, as Dr. Pinson stresses, surgery is just a tool. Attaining and maintaining significant weight loss requires lifestyle change and lifelong commitment.

Pairing her determination with support from the weight loss team, Lynne lost 110 pounds—and all the accompanying health issues.

“Weight loss surgery has been a life changer,” she says. “Physically, I don’t hurt. I have more energy. I am healthier than I have ever been.”

Miracles & Motherhood

Her improved health also brought renewed hope. In 2023, Lynne and Shane found out they were pregnant. “God works in mysterious ways,” she says. “He didn’t fail me.”

Their anniversary was extra special that year because it was their first time to hear their baby’s heartbeat. Their son, Cole, was born in April 2024.

Not long afterward, they found out they were pregnant again! Their daughter, Ember, was born in June 2025.

“You see my family—that wouldn’t have been possible without this,” Lynne says.

Living Life to the Fullest

Now Lynne’s life—and her hands—are quite full. In addition to being a busy mother of two, she works as a parts agent for a call center and serves as a volunteer firefighter in south Tishomingo County.

“I can do more things now because I have the energy and I don’t hurt,” she says. “We enjoy camping and going to the beach. I am always up for an adventure.”

But the transformation is more than just physical. “I’m happier,” Lynne says. “I’m more self-confident about myself and the things I do every day. It has changed my whole outlook on life.”

Lynne says it was absolutely one of the best decisions of her life: “Losing weight has allowed me to become a mama, a better wife, and I feel better about myself.”
