TUPELO, Miss. — North Mississippi Health Services welcomes Griffin Metcalf, MD, to IMA-Tupelo, where he provides care for patients of all ages as a board-certified physician in internal medicine and pediatrics.

Dr. Metcalf earned a bachelor's degree from Mississippi College in Clinton in 2015 before receiving his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson in 2019. He completed residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and is board certified in both specialties.

"One of my favorite things about my job is sharing camaraderie with and walking through life with people who have experiences very different from my own," he said. "Medicine allows me to form meaningful relationships with so many people, and I look forward to continuing that at NMHS."

David Barber, president of North Mississippi Medical Clinics, said Dr. Metcalf's arrival strengthens IMA-Tupelo's ability to care for patients at every stage of life.

Dr. Metcalf said his interest in medicine began at an early age and grew from a lifelong desire to serve others.

"My first remembrance of having any interest in medicine was simply wanting to be a doctor for Halloween as a 4-year-old," Dr. Metcalf said. "Growing up with a father who was a church pastor and a mother who served others through her work taught me the importance of caring for people. As I developed a love for science and math, medicine became the perfect way to combine those interests with serving others."

Dr. Metcalf and his wife, Sallie, an occupational therapist, have two sons, Walker and Jack. Outside of work, Dr. Metcalf enjoys spending time with his family, especially beach vacations, playing outside with his sons and cheering on Ole Miss athletics. He also enjoys caring for his lawn and flower beds. He and his family attend Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon.
