WEST POINT, Miss.—North Mississippi Health Services is opening North Mississippi Wound Center-West Point on Sept. 2,expanding access to specialized care for people with wounds that are slow or difficult to heal.

Proper wound care is especially important for people with diabetes, poor circulation or other conditions that can make healing more difficult. Anyone whose wound has not started to heal
within two weeks or has not completely healed within six weeks may benefit from specialized wound care.

A Vardaman native, Montroy earned her associate degree in nursing from National American University in Kansas City, Missouri, and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

“I decided to become a nurse after watching my grandmother battle the devastating effects of Huntington’s disease,” Montroy said.

After nearly 20 years in nursing, including experience in medical-surgical care, geropsychiatry, long-term care, wound care and vascular access, she decided to further her education. Montroy completed her master’s degree in nursing and nurse practitioner training at South University in Savannah, Georgia.

“I believe in the importance of giving everyone the best care possible to ensure the highest quality and quantity of life,” she said.

Outside of work, Montroy enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and friends, as well as fishing.
