Important Message for United Healthcare Medicare Advantage & Medicaid Required Dual Special Needs Medicare Advantage Plan Members

Effective June 1, North Mississippi Health Services facilities and providers are now considered out of network for all United Healthcare Medicare Advantage Plans.

NMHS terminated the agreement because patients with these insurance plans were experiencing delayed or denied care.

What this means for you:

  • North Mississippi Health Services is considered out of network for both United Healthcare Medicare Advantage PPO and HMO plans.
  • NMHS will continue to schedule services for United Healthcare Medicare Advantage PPO plans, as the PPO plans offer out-of-network benefits.

    Examples of PPO plans include:

    • AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC MS-0003 (PPO)
    • AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC MS-0002 (PPO)
    • UHC Dual Complete MS-S3 (PPO D-SNP)
    • UHC Dual Complete MS-S001 (PPO D-SNP)
    • AARP Medicare Advantage Patriot No Rx MS-MA01 (PPO)
    • AARP Medicare Advantage Giveback from UHC MS-4 (PPO)
    • UHC Nursing Home Plan EX-F001 (PPO I-SNP)
  • Important Note: United Healthcare Medicare Advantage HMO plans do not cover out-of-network facilities and providers.

    Examples of HMO plans include:

    • UHC Dual Complete MS-V001 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
    • UHC Dual Complete MS-S002 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
    • UHC Dual Complete MS-S4 (HMO-POS D-SNP)
    • AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC MS-0001 (HMO-POS)
    • UHC Complete Care MS-6 (HMO-POS C-SNP)
  • Exceptions are generally limited to emergencies and serious medical conditions that require ongoing care, such as cancer treatment or kidney dialysis.

If you have a United Healthcare Medicare Advantage plan (HMO or PPO), call the customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card to verify your out-of-network benefits and eligibility for continuing to receive services with NMHS providers.

Important Note:  NMHS remains in network for United Healthcare commercial/employer sponsored plans (including UMR administered plans), UHC Federal Marketplace plans, UHC MS CAN and CHIP.
