Pregnancy & Birth
North Mississippi Medical Center provides expectant mothers and newborns with the finest care during pregnancy and childbirth. Obstetricians, nurses and other caring professionals provide maternity care at NMMC hospitals in Tupelo, West Point and Amory.
At NMMC, you will find the full spectrum of care from prenatal to post-partum care, including high-risk pregnancy care and neonatal intensive care.
Prenatal Care
Our obstetrician-gynecologists offer expert care starting in earliest stages of pregnancy, with prenatal checkups and other services you may need. You will work with your obstetrician to develop a birth plan, choose a pediatrician and get properly prepared.
When a pregnancy is potentially high risk because of age or pre-existing medical conditions, both mother and child need a special kind of care. Maternal Fetal Medicine is available in this region only at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Our goal is to help high risk mothers prepare for healthier births.
Our delivery rooms provide everything needed to provide you with excellent care. Experienced labor and delivery staff use advanced medical technology, and have the expertise to manage C-section (Cesarean) births and other surgical procedures.
NMMC advocates breastfeeding as the superior choice of infant nutrition. Board-certified lactation consultants are available to help mothers better understand the benefits of breastfeeding and to learn feeding techniques and coping skills.
NMMC offers a variety of classes to prepare mothers and families before and after the birth of a child.
