Using MyChart to Enhance Your Hospital Stay

Summary

Using MyChart empowers you to take an active role in your health journey, even when in the hospital.

How do I use MyChart in the hospital?

When you are admitted to an NMMC hospital, observation unit or emergency room, your MyChart app will automatically update to provide you with a hospital stay dashboard, which is personalized with all the details of your hospital stay.

By accessing the dashboard through MyChart, you'll be able to stay connected with your care team and find answers to any questions you have about your conditions or treatment plan.

Real-Time Information

The hospital stay dashboard allows you to view test results, track medicines and view notes from your providers. It also allows you to communicate with providers by giving them updates on your condition and learn more about your diagnosis and care plan by viewing education assigned by your care team.

This dashboard only appears when you – or family members listed as proxy accounts on your application – are admitted as an inpatient.

While admitted, you will still have access to other dashboards and features in MyChart.

Once you have been discharged, your myChart will return to normal, with your health information from the hospital stay being housed in its normal place within the application.

What if I don't already have MyChart?

There’s no need to download anything extra. If you’re already using MyChart, the app will automatically recognize when you’ve been admitted and switch over to the inpatient view for you. It’s seamless and designed to keep things simple and convenient during your stay.

If you are not already a MyChart user, this page walks you through downloading the app and gaining access to the dashboard.

You will only be able to view "My Hospital Stay" on the MyChart mobile app. This view is not available on the webpage version of MyChart (i.e., Chrome or Edge browser).

During Your stay, you will be able to view your diagnosis, your medications, test results, documents, notes from your team and more. A medication schedule will be available so you know exactly what to expect.

Having trouble logging in?

How can my family members access MyChart hospital dashboard?
